Two words to describe this coffeemaker – simple and basic.  This 5-cup drip coffeemaker has control buttons with symbolic icons so they can be generally understood.  The filter cone sits inside the decanter making it more compact and easier to use.  Another feature would be the concealed, removable water reservoir.

The replaceable water filter lasts up to two years under normal use for clean operation.  The automatic keep warm function guarantees the last serving will still be warm.  This includes a measuring spoon and a user manual.

Zojirushi EC-DAC50The Zojirushi EC-DAC50 Zutto 5-Cup Drip Coffeemaker  has a compact design that is ideal for those people who don’t have much counter space in their kitchen.  It also keeps your counter space neat and tidy.  It’s very easy to clean compared to other bulky coffeemakers.  The splash guard, just above where the hot water hits the ground coffee is easy to remove and clean with running water.

The water reservoir and cover can also be removed easily for cleaning and complete drying.  You can actually remove it and bring it to the sink to fill it rather than pouring water into the machine with the possibility of spilling and making a mess.  The carafe’s inner surface is easy to reach, clean and rinse.

The  Zojirushi EC-DAC50 might be more expensive than other brands but it does make good coffee.  Mainly because of the cone-bottom filter that removes all the unwanted flavors from the water after heating it.

However, a few complaints were raised about the temperature of the coffee.  Some customers claimed that coffee does not come out hot.  It’s not that they want to burn or scald their lips and tongue while drinking the hot coffee but the coffee is barely warm.

Another issue is about the carafe handle design.  It works by a metal strap tight around the neck of the carafe, holding the handle on.  Pressure on the neck of the carafe develops when pouring resulting to cracks and eventually leads to breakage.

Others were also complaining about the capacity of the coffee maker.  They said the large coffee pot hardly makes 5 cups.  Some customers also wished that an auto shut off feature be added to avoid burnt coffee if in case you forgot to turn it off.
